The World I Once Knew.
An Original project.
βThe World I Once Knewβ
An original project staring my buddy Lennon. Howβd it all start? Great question!
It all started from the realization that I made art more for the clicks and likes as opposed to making art for me. Finding the reason behind this all led me down what I would call a rabbit hole of curiosity and understanding. In other words the strange paradox in todayβs world known as βSelf Expressionβ had been brought to my attention.
With self expression being preached to many nowadays through social media, art, culture, even fashion, The idea of expressing ones thoughts, emotions, and identity being praised by man. How many actually allow themselves to become that vulnerable and express themselves. With social media bringing on this pandemic of comparison found amongst all generations, its become quite difficult to genuinely express oneself.
At the core, self expression involves revealing our true self to the world whether itβd be through words, art, fashion, or any other form of creativity. Requiring a deep sense of oneself and the courage to be able to do so. However one of the biggest reasons for why genuine self expression is hard to come by, comes from the fear of rejection, the fear of of sticking out and making yourself vulnerable.
With this project I wanted to stick out and not worry about anyone else. I wanted to make art for myself, something that I can look at and say I did that. Coming from a place of deep vulnerability and a desire to truly express myself. I present to you βThe World I Once Knewβ
Please enjoy this remake of the popular Frank Sinatra song, the one that heavily inspired this all βThe World We Knew (Over & Over)β by Vlad Holiday
